1. The "Zero-Retention" Guarantee for Scanned Text

When you submit a document or paste text into our plagiarism scanner, that data is loaded into memory strictly for the duration of the scan. Once the analysis is complete and the results are delivered to your browser session, the text is immediately and permanently purged from our servers.

We never index your articles, add your writing to any matching database, or sell your research to third parties. The only exception is when you are signed in and choose to save a report to your check history — that report is then stored privately for your account alone, and you can delete it at any time (see Data Retention and Deletion below).

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the service:

Account Data: If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication identifiers (managed through Google Firebase) so you can sign in and access your dashboard.
Saved Reports: Reports you explicitly choose to save to your check history while signed in. They are private to your account and are never shared or added to any database.
Usage Counters: Daily check counts used to enforce fair-usage limits. For visitors without an account, we store only a salted, irreversible hash of your IP address — never the raw IP.
Analytics Data: We monitor basic, anonymized web traffic (e.g., page views, geographic regions) to ensure our servers scale appropriately.
Contact Information: If you voluntarily reach out to us via our Support Contact form, we collect your name and email address solely to respond to your inquiry.

3. Payments and Billing

Paid plans are sold by LinkIntel Inc, with payments processed securely by Stripe. When you buy a Pro subscription or a Day Pass, your payment details (such as card number and billing address) are collected and processed by Stripe and never touch our servers. Stripe processes this data under its privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy. We store only your plan type, subscription status, and a Stripe customer reference so we can activate and manage your plan.

4. Third-Party API Integrations

To provide our deep-search capabilities, we securely transmit the text you provide to enterprise-grade search APIs. These partners are legally bound by strict confidentiality agreements that prohibit them from storing, learning from, or repurposing your text. Transmission is always secured via TLS 1.3 encryption.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We despise intrusive advertising as much as you do. PlagiarismCheck.io does not use tracking cookies for behavioral advertising or cross-site remarketing. The only cookies and browser storage we use are strictly essential for website functionality — keeping you signed in, bot-protection tokens, and remembering your preferences.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You are in control of your data. From your dashboard you can delete individual saved reports, your entire check history, or your whole account at any time. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and saved reports, and automatically cancels any active subscription. Anonymous usage counters expire on their own within 24 hours.

7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Most of this is self-service: your saved reports and your account can be deleted directly from your dashboard. For billing records processed by Stripe, or for any other request, contact our Data Protection Officer and we will respond within 30 days.
